Use of the Clubhouse

In general, during the Sailing season, the clubhouse is open for the informal use of CBYC members and their guests, including the members of clubs having reciprocal privileges with CBYC. Those using the clubhouse must clean up after the use of the clubhouse including: wiping tables for spills, picking up garbage and returning tables and chairs to their original positions.

Please note the following clubhouse rules:

  • No smoking in the clubhouse
  • No pets in the clubhouse
  • Supervision by an adult is required for children under 16 in the clubhouse and on the upper deck
  • The clubhouse is to be kept locked with all lights and appliances (fans, BBQ, heaters) turned off when it is not occupied
  • The clubhouse combination is to be made available only to members, reciprocal guests, sailing school instructors and the marina

Occasionally there are times when formal club events scheduled by the Executive, or meetings of the Executive, or reservations for use of the clubhouse scheduled by members through the Executive (Clubhouse Chair), may require exclusive use of the facility. Below is a list of currently scheduled times when the clubhouse will be in use.

Presently Scheduled Activities in the Clubhouse

 Repeating Activities

  • Thursday Evening Racing
    During the racing season the clubhouse is used by the Thursday Night racers for social gatherings after their races, which are held every Thursday, late afternoon and evening.
  • 8:45 – 9:15 a.m. Distance Race Days
    The house is also used between 8.45 a.m. and 9.15 a.m. for skippers’ meetings before the long distance races listed in the racing schedule.
  • Possible day use by Sailing School
    While the Sailing School has acquired a trailer as its new home base, inclement weather may require sessions to be held in the clubhouse on week days between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Any person or group using the clubhouse is expected to:

  • Maintain the clubhouse in neat, clean and attractive condition
  • Be considerate of others in the marina i.e. no excessive or unnecessary noise
  • Replenish the BBQ propane tank as necessary
  • Ensure someone is assigned to clean immediately after the event
  • Wash tables and counters, clean the microwave and BBQ (if used), empty garbage and recycle bins, and vacuum
  • Return clubhouse equipment and supplies to their assigned locations
  • Restore all furniture to its normal position. Place chairs neatly around tables
