Cruising

CBYC cruises are planned every summer to allow members opportunities to get together on the water, discover new destinations, learn from each other, and hone their sailing skills. The club also offers email discussion groups through which members can exchange information on cruising plans and destinations, and reciprocal arrangements that make it easy – and inexpensive – to visit other clubs.

Organized Cruises

Traditionally, a handful of extended or long-weekend events are organized during the sailing season. Examples of previous cruise themes give an idea of what could come up; details on current season cruises will be posted here and on the club calendar as planning progresses.

Victoria Day Shakedown: Get the boat out and see if everything still works. Bring your toolbox and spares!

Around the County: A week-long cruise circling Prince Edward County via the Bay of Quinte, Murray Canal, and Lake Ontario.

Civic Holiday Weekend: It’s August, it’s a long weekend – do we need more reasons?

A Show in Gananoque: A trip to Gananoque including a performance at the Thousand Islands Playhouse.

Capable, friendly, dedicated and volunteer cruise captains are the key starting point of every organized cruise event. If you would like to volunteer or share your suggestions, contact cruise@collinsbayyachtclub.ca.

Discussion Groups

Two email lists have been set up to help CBYC members share cruising scuttlebutt. Contact the Cruise Chair if you would like to be added to one or both of these lists.

Impromptu Cruises: If you have a last minute bright idea, would like to help other club members discover your favourite spots, or are just looking for some company, this list will help you get the word out. Send a quick email with your schedule and destination and see who’s interested.

Weekend Anchorages: Not just for anchorages, this list allows you to share information or ask and answer questions about nearby destinations. For updates on anchorages, reciprocal clubs that you think should be better known, current conditions at marinas, and so on, a quick email to this list will get the word out to interested CBYC members.
