What to Bring

Points to remember:

  • There can be a lot of glare on the water. Protect your eyes!
  • The sun can often burn your skin in less than 30 minutes. Short yachting races last about 1 hour.
  • When sailing with the wind, it can feel quite warm – but when sailing into the wind, the temperature drops significantly

Bring a small backpack with you. Note: Be conscious of the weight you’re bringing – only bring what you absolutely need! You might want to bring:

  • Extra layer of clothing
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen
  • Baseball cap or toque
  • Fingerless sailing or biking gloves
  • Shoes with NON-MARKING (preferably light-coloured) soles
  • Minimum 1 L water. For long distance races, 2 L or more
  • High calorie snacks. Should be fast/easy to consume! (energy bars, apple, etc)

  • Digital watch with timer
